Harry Potter

Another thing that sprung to mind when thinking about the environment that I want to create was Harry Potter (Still loving it after all these years!!) J.K Rowling created an entire world for people to emmerse themselves in. It was the entrace to Diagon Alley that stuck in my head, where the bricks all slide around and part to reveal this hidden world to the viewers for the first time. So I went to http://www.harrypotter.com/ to see how the website is looking and as previously found it has been made to completly represent the story. The images used are photos but they behave in a 2D way, when the mouse is moved, that reminded me of a pop up book. Another part of the website that I really enjoyed was the Gallery, at first we see one of the main characters as the focus point of the page but then thumnail images from the film start to fly around him.

Selecting one of the pictures as it glides across the screen causes it to enlarge in the middle of the screen so that you can see it better and then close it again when you are done.

I thought it is a really cool way to display the pictures instead of just useing static images. It makes it a far more engaging page of the website.
